She was the familiar face as the morning co-anchor of Eyewitness News until her retirement on September 23, 2025, when she signed off from the Eyewitness News desk after an impressive three-decade run with the station.
After finishing her studies, Sykes kicked off her journalism journey as a general assignment reporter at the now-closed Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. She then completed an internship at KCOP-TV, which was an independent station at the time, leading her to a desk assistant position in the news department at Fox-owned KTTV.
Her first chance to shine on-air came at WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where she not only reported but also anchored three daily newscasts and produced a show. She later transitioned to WVUE-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana, stepping into a larger television market.
