Hoda Kotb is a broadcast journalist, television personality, and author from the United States. She is a co-host of the NBC News morning show Today’s entertainment-focused fourth hour and a key co-anchor of the show’s morning show Today. Kotb previously worked as a correspondent for Dateline NBC, a television news magazine program.

In October 2010, Kotb released Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee, a New York Times bestseller autobiography. Ten Years Later: Six People Who Faced Adversity and Transformed Their Lives, her second book, was released on January 15, 2013, and it chronicles six stories by identifying a life-changing event in each subject’s life and then revisiting each of those six people a decade later.
Where They Belong: The Best Decisions People Almost Never Made, Kotb’s third book, was launched in 2016, and it contains a collection of uplifting anecdotes about people who “discovered themselves” in utterly unexpected events or circumstances. I Really Needed This Today, Kotb’s sixth book, was launched in October 2019 and includes personal notes about her experiences and relationships, as well as a collection of quotes and 365 sayings that she hopes would inspire and encourage readers. This Just Speaks to Me, her follow-up, was launched in October 2020, and it expands on her daily musings and contains additional personal tales and quotes.

In April 1998, Kotb began working for NBC News as a correspondent for Dateline NBC and all NBC News platforms. In September 2007, she became the inaugural host of Today’s first fourth-hour weekday morning show at 10:00 a.m., and in April 2008, Kathie Lee Gifford joined her as a co-host. Following Gifford’s resignation from the show in April 2019, Jenna Bush Hager took over as the new host.
Kotb began hosting a live, one-hour show twice a week on Sirius XM’s Today channel on February 23, 2015, where he discussed casual, water cooler themes. After NBC News fired anchor Matt Lauer following sexual misconduct allegations, Kotb was named co-host of Today with Savannah Guthrie on January 2, 2018.
