Ong came to KRON4 as a video journalist in April 2018. Gayle is a Bay Area native and is proud to return back home. She grew up in Union City and graduated from James Logan High School. Before joining KRON4, Gayle spent almost 9 years living and serving as a journalist in New York State, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Recently Gayle lived upstate and served at WETM-TV in Elmira, N.Y. where she worked as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor/producer. She has covered the beautiful Finger Lakes region, known for its state parks and award-winning wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Ong also has worked for the world of professional auto racing, like NASCAR. Gayle got to ride along with many professional race car drivers. Her most memorable ride was with racing legend Mario Andretti, behind the wheel of an Indy car hitting triple-digit speeds.
Prior to WETM-TV, Gayle resided in New York City and served at the nationally syndicated newsmagazine show, Inside Edition. She also worked as an associate producer for their promotions department. There she wrote and produced on-air promos and pre-show teases. Prior to that, Gayle worked as a production assistant for Fox News Channel, also serving in promos.
She graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.A. in Radio and Television.
