Nima Elbagir a Sudanese journalist currently serving as a Chief International Investigative Correspondent for CNN. On 27 January 2022, Elbagir was promoted to CNN’s Chief International Investigative Correspondent.

Earlier in her career, she made her documentary debut with Unreported World in Meet the Janjaweed, where she secured rare access to Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo—widely known as “Hemeti”—one of the key Arab Janjaweed commanders at the center of the Darfur conflict. Working alongside director Andrew Carter, Elbagir documented Sudanese Army identification cards carried by the fighters and Chinese-manufactured weapons, delivering the first broadcast documentary evidence of the Sudanese government’s direct links to the Janjaweed and highlighting the role of Chinese arms sales in fueling the violence in Darfur
