Scott Pelley is a journalist and author who has worked for CBS News for over 31 years as a correspondent and anchor. From 2011 to 2017, Pelley was the anchor and managing editor of CBS Evening News, during which time the show gained more than a million and a half viewers and achieved its highest ratings in more than a decade. From 1997 to 1999, Pelley was CBS News’ chief White House correspondent.

Pelley has reported from the front lines of the fight against ISIS in Iraq; he landed the first major television interview with FBI Director James Comey in 2014, and he interviewed the nurses who treated the first Ebola patient in the United States. In addition to extensive coverage of the Lance Armstrong doping case, Pelley conducted the only interview with one of the Navy SEALs who assisted in the assassination of Osama bin Laden and a groundbreaking interview with the chief accuser in Major League Baseball’s doping case against Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees. Pelley met Pope Francis at the Vatican in September 2015, ahead of the pontiff’s visit to the United States, and later led CBS News’ coverage of the visit.

There’s also a studio, which Pelley dubbed the Darien bureau because it allowed him to work on “60 Minutes” segments from home. The master suite is located on the upper level and includes a massive walk-in closet, a large sitting room, a fireplace, and a balcony overlooking the backyard.
The master bath has a soaking tub, a separate shower, and dual vanities. The remaining bedrooms are also on the second floor. Other relaxing areas in the house include a library, terrace, and basement. According to the New York Post, Pelley, a Texas native, paid $1,250,000 for a 24-acre Texas ranch in 2016. Closer to his New York office, he and his wife, June, own a two-bedroom Manhattan condo that they reportedly purchased in 2016 for $2.25 million.

Pelley’s CBS career began in 1989 in New York City. Later, he returned to Dallas to work for CBS as a national affairs correspondent. Pelley covered the Gulf War in 1990/91, reporting from Baghdad and accompanying the XVIII Airborne Corps on its assault on Iraq and Kuwait. He was tasked with covering the 1992 presidential campaigns of Ross Perot and Bill Clinton, as well as major events such as the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the Waco siege, and the Oklahoma City bombing.
From 1997 to 1999, Pelley was CBS News’ Chief White House Correspondent. President Clinton was impeached by the United States House of Representatives at the time.
