Olivia Olson Love Actually
Olson rose to prominence as Joanna Anderson in the 2003 holiday film Love Actually, where she sang the song “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Her singing was praised, with director Richard Curtis stating in the Love Actually DVD’s music section commentary that Olson’s singing was so perfect that they were afraid the audience would not believe a ten-year-old could really sing the way she did and would think she was lip-syncing to Mariah Carey’s voice.
They had to train her to make her singing sound more realistic, as well as add inhalation sounds to the track. This led to appearances on The Ellen Show, The Tracy Morgan Show, and collaborations with stars such as Jack Black and Kristin Chenoweth. Olson also uploaded original songs to her YouTube channel. Olson portrayed Joanna in Red Nose Day Actually, a short film that is a sequel to Love Actually, in 2017.
