Stephanie has worked as a foreign and domestic journalist for national, international, and local news organizations for nearly two decades. She received an Overseas Press Club Award in 2008 for her breaking news reports from the Sichuan earthquake for ABC News. She also won a Business Emmy that year for her contributions to the ABC World News report “Global Food Crisis.”

Stephanie hosted Al Jazeera America’s two-hour live morning show. She was best known at the network for anchoring major news events such as the Supreme Court’s gay marriage decision, the re-opening of the US embassy in Cuba, and terrorist attacks in Europe. She was also one of the hosts of Talk to Al Jazeera, the network’s flagship interview program, for which her interview with Gloria Steinem received a Gracie Award in 2015.

Stephanie began her career in local news, working for television stations in Norfolk, Virginia, and Florence, South Carolina. Stephanie was dispatched to the Middle East in 2003 as a military reporter for WTKR in Norfolk to cover the invasion of Iraq. Her war coverage for the former New York Times Broadcast Group earned her an Associated Press award. She later returned to Baghdad several times as an ABC affiliate reporter. Stephanie serves on the advisory board of Report for America and has hosted Ethics Matter, a Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs public affairs program. She received the Asian American Journalists Association’s “Mentor of the Year” award in 2015.
