Gibson joined CBS News in Los Angeles in June 2010 as a west coast correspondent for CBS Newspath. Gibson also worked as an entertainment correspondent for the network’s affiliate service, covering stories such as Mel Gibson’s 2011 trial, in which the actor agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge. Gibson left Southern California in October 2011 to join WJLA, the ABC affiliate for the Washington, D.C. area.
