Carolyn Gusoff is a well-known American television news reporter and author, currently serving as the Long Island correspondent for WCBS-TV in New York City. Before her time at WCBS, she spent three years reporting for Fox 5 New York and dedicated a solid 15 years to WNBC, where she took on roles as the Long Island Bureau Chief, reporter, and weekend anchor for Today in New York. She’s also the co-author of the compelling book Buried Memories: Katie Beers’ Story, which she wrote alongside kidnapping survivor Katie Beers, and it even made it to the New York Times bestseller list.
Carolyn graduated from George W. Hewlett High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in English and Government from Cornell University. She also holds a master’s degree in Journalism from the prestigious Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
Her broadcasting journey kicked off in Fort Myers, Florida, where she worked at WEVU-TV, an ABC affiliate, and at WLEQ-FM. In the late 1980s, she joined News 12 Long Island before making the leap to WNBC in August 1993. While at NBC 4 New York, Gusoff reported on significant breaking news stories, including the tragic crash of TWA Flight 800, the American Airlines Flight 587 disaster, and the infamous Blizzard of 1996.
