Dr. Jennifer Ashton Biography

Dr. Jennifer Ashton is a well-known American physician, author, and television correspondent, celebrated for her contributions to women’s health and medical journalism. Recently, she held the positions of chief health and medical editor and chief medical correspondent for ABC News and Good Morning America, and she was a familiar face on GMA3: What You Need to Know until 2024. Before that, she served as the chief women’s health correspondent for The Dr. Oz Show and wrote a column for Cosmopolitan. Outside of her broadcasting work, Ashton is a highly sought-after speaker and moderator at events dedicated to promoting awareness of women’s health issues.

Ashton is double board-certified in both obstetrics and gynecology, as well as obesity medicine. She completed her residency at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital Center (now known as Mount Sinai Morningside) in New York and has worked as an attending physician at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey, which is affiliated with Mount Sinai.
