Dreyer played softball while a student at Manalapan High School, where she obtained her diploma in 1999. In 2003, she graduated with a bachelor’s in meteorology from Rutgers University. Dreyer had a brief internship at WeatherWorks, a private consulting firm in Hackettstown, New Jersey, while he was a student.

Dreyer joined Weekend TODAY after working as the weekday morning meteorologist since 2007 at WHDH, the NBC affiliate in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked as the weekend meteorologist for the NBC affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island, WJAR, earlier. Dreyer worked as the weekend meteorologist at WICU in Erie, Pennsylvania, for two years before to joining WJAR.
Dreyer earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Rutgers University in 2003, graduating with honors. She worked as a weather anchor for the Rutgers TV network and one of two meteorologists for the Rutgers radio station throughout her tenure there.
Dreyer won the title of Boston’s Best Meteorologist in 2008. She proudly displays the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. Dreyer has had positions at WHDH in Boston, Massachusetts, WICU in Erie, Pennsylvania, and WJAR in Providence, Rhode Island. On February 9, 2013, Dreyer was involved in an automobile accident while traveling to cover a snowfall for Today. In addition to her work as a meteorologist, Dreyer hosts the NBC educational nature program Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer, which is part of the network’s The More You Know lineup.
