Joyce Giraud Pageant and modeling
Giraud is one of the few Puerto Rican supermodels who has appeared on magazine covers and in international campaigns. Giraud competed in a number of beauty pageants in her early career, becoming a titleholder multiple times before winning the Miss Universe 1998 pageant and finishing as second runner-up. She has previously represented Puerto Rico at Miss World 1994 and is a two-time Miss Puerto Rico. Giraud was crowned Miss World Puerto Rico in 1994, and she also received the titles of Most Beautiful Hair, Most Beautiful Smile, Most Beautiful Face, and Best Runway. Later, she represented Puerto Rico in the Queen of the Atlantics International in Spain, where she was crowned Queen of the Atlantics in 1995.
In 1997, she represented Puerto Rico in the Miss Venus International pageant in Jacksonville, Florida, and won the title for her hometown. Giraud was crowned Miss Aguas Buenas in 1998 and Miss Universe Puerto Rico the following year. She also received awards for Most Beautiful Hair, Most Beautiful Face, Best Body, and Miss Photogenic.

Giraud began modeling to help her mother pay for her mother’s university studies and quickly rose to become one of Puerto Rico’s top models. She has appeared in a number of national and international advertisements. She describes being discovered while working at a KFC restaurant’s drive-thru.
Giraud discovered her love of acting after winning Miss Universe Puerto Rico when director Vicente Castro cast her as the lead in his Coralito Tiene Dos Maridos, a remake of Sonia Braga’s Dona Flor y Sus Dos Maridos. She received such positive feedback that she discovered a new passion in life. Giraud moved to Miami, Florida after doing many minor roles in her native Puerto Rico, where she continued her successful modeling career. After becoming the unbeaten model of Star Search in 2001, she decided to relocate to Los Angeles, where she has appeared in numerous films and television shows.
Giraud has appeared in David Fincher’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, as well as Dude, Where’s My Car?, Miss Castaway, and Slayer.
