He said that initial job taught him the ropes of journalism and prepared him for a later career as a Telemundo journalist covering Mexico City. He was offered an anchor position with Telemundo’s Los Angeles affiliate after years of working in Mexico. He lived in Los Angeles for a few years before moving to Telemundo’s headquarters in Miami.

Vaqueiro was the late-night news anchor for the NBCUniversal-owned network, which airs at 11:35 p.m. eastern.
