Roseanne Barr Family
Barr was born to a Jewish family in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 3, 1952. Helen (née Davis) was the oldest of four children born to Jerome Hershel “Jerry” Barr, a salesman, and Helen (née Davis), a bookkeeper and cashier. Her maternal grandparents were Jewish emigrants from Austria-Hungary and Lithuania, and her father’s family were Jewish emigrants from Russia. When her paternal grandpa immigrated to the United States, he changed his surname from “Borisofsky” to “Barr.”
Her devoutly Orthodox Jewish maternal grandmother inspired her Jewish upbringing. Barr’s parents were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and kept their Jewish origin hidden from their neighbors. Barr moved out of the house when she was 18 years old, telling her parents she was going to visit a friend in Colorado for two weeks but never returned. Barr has a lesbian sister, Geraldine, and a gay brother, Ben. This, according to Barr, prompted her to include lesbian characters in her sitcom and to advocate for same-sex marriage.

On April 18, 1994, Barr filed for divorce from Tom Arnold in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. They were unable to conceive children despite their best efforts. Barr married Ben Thomas, her one-time personal security guard, in Caesars Tahoe on February 14, 1995, with a reception at Planet Hollywood. She became pregnant through in vitro fertilization in November 1994, and they had a son named Buck. Until 2002, the pair was still together. Following holding a writing competition on her blog in 2002, Barr met Johnny Argent online and began dating him in 2003, after a year of phone discussions. Barr stated in 2015 that she had been diagnosed with both macular degeneration and glaucoma and that she was losing her vision and anticipated going blind as a result; she was using medicinal marijuana to lower her intraocular pressure, which is a symptom of both conditions. Barr later stated that she had been misdiagnosed and that her vision problem was caused by a mole behind her eye that could be removed with surgery.
Barr was reported to have had a heart attack in November 2018, however, she later clarified on social media that she was not suffering from any medical concerns. Roseanne Barr revealed in 1994 that she suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) as a result of childhood abuse. Roseanne Barr Hitler photoshoot
In July 2009, Barr drew fire for portraying Adolf Hitler in a story for the satirical Jewish newspaper Heeb magazine called “That Oven Feelin’.” The Nazi motif was supposedly her idea, and she wore a Hitler mustache and wore a swastika armband while holding a plate of burned gingerbread man cookies, which the story referred to as “burnt Jew cookies.” Josh Neuman, the magazine’s publisher, said the images were taken for satire rather than shock effect. “I was making fun of Hitler, not his victims,” added Barr, who is Jewish. Bill O’Reilly, the presenter of Fox News, was harshly critical of her “”Come on, Roseanne,” Extra’s Mario Lopez said, “you’re ridiculing the Holocaust.” Jokes about Hitler are never amusing.” The photographs resurfaced on social media after her show was revived in March 2018, prompting new mentions of the incident in publications such as the Jewish magazine The Forward and the Los Angeles Times, among others.
