Baderinwa was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on July 23, 2004. She’s been in rehab for months, and it’s been painful and frustrating, but she knows she’s lucky to be alive. Baderinwa was dispatched to cover a flood in nearby Hackensack, New Jersey while reporting for WABC-TV, the local ABC affiliate in New York City.
Standing in a police-barricaded street, Baderinwa recalls being hit by a car that appeared out of nowhere. She was thrown ten feet into the air and knocked out for 20 minutes. Baderinwa survived, but his arm was broken, necessitating the use of a titanium brace. She also had to wear a leg brace and had one of her knees replaced.
