Tara is an award-winning broadcast journalist with nearly 15 years of experience working in television markets across Virginia, most recently as the lead evening anchor for CBS19 in Charlottesville and the morning news anchor for WFXR in Roanoke. Tara is also known to UVA sports fans as the Hoo-Vision host for home football and men’s basketball games. While she has spent the majority of her career in Virginia, she now comes to us from the Deep South. Tara anchored the morning news for WCBI in Columbus while her husband was in pilot training in Mississippi.
Tara has crowned Miss Virginia in 2008 and was a finalist in the Quality of Life category at the Miss America pageant in 2009. She believes that “Beauty is as Beauty Does,” and she used her title to raise more than $50,000 for pediatric cancer research when she teamed up with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and shaved her head BALD in solidarity with the children battling the disease.
Tara spends her free time volunteering in the community, playing pick-up hockey, and teaching dance fitness classes. She enjoys getting out and about with her family and exploring everything the Hampton Roads area has to offer.
