When Noah confronted Shingange about the shooting over the phone, he threatened Noah’s life, prompting Noah to flee Johannesburg for Los Angeles. Shingange was convicted of attempted murder in 2011 and sentenced to three years in prison the following year.

Noah joined The Daily Show as a recurring contributor in December 2014. Noah’s tenure as host of The Daily Show began on September 28, 2015, after Comedy Central announced in March 2015 that he would succeed Jon Stewart. Critics have praised him, with one calling him “charming and composed” and a “low-key low-key compared to the habitually antic and astonished Stewart.” Critics have also panned him, with Salon writing, “Noah has dulled its knife, weakened the satire, and let the powerful run free.” In March 2018, Noah’s contract with Comedy Central was extended through 2022. He began developing a talk show for Jordan Klepper in April 2017, which premiered in September.

Noah appeared in an episode of the South African soap opera Isidingo in 2002. Later, on Gauteng’s leading youth radio station, YFM, he hosted his own radio show Noah’s Ark. He gave up his radio show and acting career to focus on comedy, and has worked with South African comedians such as David Kau, Kagiso Lediga, Riaad Moosa, Darren Simpson, Marc Lottering, Barry Hilton, and Nik Rabinowitz, as well as international comedians such as Paul Rodriguez, Carl Barron, Dan Ilic, and Paul Zerdin, and as the opening act for American comedian Gabriel Iglesias on his South African tour in November 2007.
