Christiane Amanpour is an American journalist working as CNN’s Chief International Anchor and the anchor of Amanpour, a nightly interview show on CNN International. She is also the host of the PBS show Amanpour & Company.

Amanpour is the daughter of Mohammad Taghi and Patricia Anne Amanpour (née Hill) and was born in the West London neighborhood of Ealing. Her father was from Tehran, Iran. Amanpour was born and reared in Tehran till the age of eleven. Her mother was a Catholic and her father was a Shi’ite Muslim.

Amanpour traveled to the United States after leaving New Hall to study journalism at the University of Rhode Island. Amanpour was married to James Rubin, a former US Assistant Secretary of State and spokesman for the US State Department during the Clinton administration, and an informal adviser to former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama, from 1998 to 2018.
Rubin revealed in May 2013 that the family will return to London to work on a number of projects, and Amanpour confirmed in October of the same year that she and her husband would be relocating to London permanently. Amanpour and Rubin announced their divorce in July 2018.
