Matenopoulos was an MTV production assistant in 1997 when, by coincidence, he was called to audition for and was cast as the youngest co-host on Barbara Walters’ new talk show, The View, at the age of 22. Ana Gasteyer, Claire Danes, Cameron Diaz, and Sarah Michelle Gellar mocked her on Saturday Night Live as an uninformed ditz, and she was eventually invited to attend as a guest on SNL, where she portrayed herself. Her contract with the show was not renewed in January 1999, and she was replaced by Lisa Ling. Later that year, she became one of the TV Guide Channel’s initial on-air hosts.

Matenopoulos portrayed herself in the claymation show Celebrity Deathmatch. Matenopoulous (together with Arthel Neville) joined Good Day Live in January 2004 to co-host the nationally syndicated show. On September 29, 2004, she was hospitalized for an injury sustained while doing a stunt for a portion of Good Day Live. The episode was about firefighter training, and she performed a three-story building fall in a Los Angeles fire station. She fell on an airbag wrongly and was transported to the hospital for a probable head injury. She was temporarily blind due to a closed head wound. Good Day Live was terminated by its syndicators in March 2005, despite extensive promotion, including a mall tour featuring Matenopoulous and Arthel Neville.

Matenopoulos joined Ecoverage !’s of the Golden Globe Awards in January 2006. She joined Eweeknight !’s celebrity gossip and pop culture series, The Daily 10, as one of three hosts in April of that year, a role she kept until August 2009.
