While at NewsWatch TV, an in-school news program distributed throughout Arizona, he led and built the school’s first meteorological section. He obtained a job as a meteorologist at KCSG in Utah one week before graduation. Later, he was elevated to chief meteorologist, where he was in charge of all weather operations.
In 2008, he was hired by a duopoly station on California’s Central Coast to work as an environmental reporter and a meteorologist for KCOY, KKFX, KION, and KCBA. He had a television audience of over 500,000 households. He covered a number of noteworthy events while in California.
He was on the site of the Basin Complex Fire in Big Sur in 2008, the country’s second-costliest wildfire. After winning a lottery to attend the Michael Jackson memorial service at the Staples Center in June 2009, he became the only reporter in the market to cover it.
