Overmyer had previously reported and anchored for SportsNet in New York (SNY). For Jets Post Game Live and 1st and Goal with Mike Tannenbaum, he served as the field reporter and studio host, respectively. Overmyer served in a variety of roles while employed by SNY, including anchoring the nightly highlight show, hosting talk shows, and serving as a field reporter for all New York teams. Overmyer worked as a sports anchor for CNN in Atlanta for five years before relocating to New York in 2006. He was the NFL Sunday Night Blitz’s award-winning host and the evening sports anchor for CNN Headline News.

From 1997 to 2001, Overmyer also worked as a reporter for a number of professional sports teams at KPNX-TV, an NBC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona, including the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

At WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, where he first started his career as a sports director, Overmyer won the AP Florida Sportscaster of the Year Award. Since then, he has made a name for himself as a distinguished sports journalist, covering some of the most notable occasions in the area, including the Giants’ victories in the Super Bowl in 2007 and 2012, the Yankees’ World Series victory in 2009, and Derek Jeter’s final game at Yankee Stadium.
