Murdock relocated to New York from our CBS station WTKR in Norfolk, Virginia. Her meteorological journey began at Penn State University, where she received a Master of Science in Meteorology. Murdock graduated from PSU and moved to Central Virginia, where she began her work as a Broadcast Meteorologist at WCAV/WVAW/WAHU. Murdock worked as the evening weather anchor on both the local ABC and FOX affiliates in Charlottesville for two years and loved every minute of it. Her job subsequently took her to Norfolk, Virginia, where she forecasted for communities all along the Mid-Atlantic coastline for nearly five years.
Murdock was instrumental in reporting on Hurricane Irene. “Covering Hurricane Irene was a reminder that we ought to respect nature’s force and love life,” she says. “We had only just begun dealing with Irene when we received information that a tree had fallen on a home and a youngster had gone missing. Her son was slain, while the mother escaped with only minor scrapes and bruises. When I think about Irene, this tale comes to mind, and my heart goes out to the mother who lost her son.”
