Alex Scott MBE is an English sports broadcaster, pundit, and former professional footballer who spent most of his career with Arsenal in the FA Women’s Super League. She made 140 appearances for the England national team and competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics for Great Britain.

Scott got her start in the media while still playing football, appearing on shows like Soccer AM, and having minor positions at BBC Sport, BT Sport, and Sky Sports. She won the ITV show Mission Survive, hosted by Bear Grylls, in 2016. Scott returned to television broadcasting full-time after retiring in 2017, co-presenting on Match of the Day Kickabout. She gained a broader audience as she covered the 2018 FIFA World Cup for the BBC, making her the first female football commentator at a World Cup. She continued to contribute commentary on the Premier League after the tournament, and in August 2018, she became the first female analyst on Sky Sports, joining the Super Sunday team.

For the BBC, she covered the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Scott and Chris Kamara were confirmed as the new co-hosts of Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday in August 2019. Scott has been a frequent host of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards since 2020. Scott also appears on The One Show as a guest presenter on a regular basis. She was a participant in the 17th series of Strictly Come Dancing from September 2019 to September 2020, partnering with professional dancer Neil Jones. She played a vital role in Arsenal’s historic “Quadruple” season, in which they won all of their trophy competitions, including the UEFA Women’s Cup in 2006–07. During her Arsenal career, she made 40 appearances and scored four goals in all competitions. Her playing rights were assigned to the Chicago Red Stars in 2008, then in 2009, they were traded to the Boston Breakers. She appeared in 21 games for the Breakers in 2010 and had two assists. She was loaned back to Arsenal in 2011 for the duration of a pre-season tour of Japan.

Scott returned to Arsenal for the third time when the WPS collapsed ahead of the 2012 season. Kelly Smith, a Boston teammate, joined her. For the 2014–15 season, Scott was chosen, as captain. Scott represented England at the U19 and U21 levels, notably at the FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship in Canada in 2002. On September 18, 2004, Scott made her complete debut against the Netherlands. She competed in the UEFA Women’s Championship in 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2017, as well as the FIFA Women’s World Cups in 2007, 2011, and 2015. She won bronze at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and silver in the 2009 UEFA Women’s Euros.

Scott scored a stunning goal past her own goalie to give Germany the lead in England’s humiliating 3–0 defeat at Wembley Stadium in November 2014. Scott announced his retirement from international football on September 2, 2017. With 140 caps, she was the second most capped England player at the time of her retirement.
