Since the terrorist events of September 11, 2001, he has reported from the front lines of every major battle across the world, as well as covering the most important worldwide stories. D’Agata and his team were instrumental in CBS News earning both the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Award and the Sigma Delta Chi Award for their coverage of the migrant crisis. In 2013, he won the Overseas Press Club Award for his dramatic coverage of the Egyptian revolution’s repression in Cairo. His work for CBS News earned him a number of Edward R. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other US staff were killed. He has covered natural disasters such as the Asian tsunami, earthquakes in Italy, and the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that precipitated the Fukushima nuclear power plant’s nuclear issue.
D’Agata has also covered numerous major worldwide events, including Pope John Paul II’s death and ascension to Pope Benedict, William and Catherine’s Royal Wedding, Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee, the Arab Spring upheavals, and various terror attacks in Europe.
He was previously the London correspondent for CBS Newspath, the CBS News affiliate news service, and the service’s first international correspondent. He was previously the top international correspondent for CBS Radio (2002-05). D’Agata began his international career in 1992 as an Assignment Editor for ABC News in London, before joining CBS News as a correspondent for APTN in London.
