In February 2000, Jarvis was named one of Teen People’s “20 Teens Who Will Change the World.” She was recognized for raising over $750,000 for her own non-profit children’s organization, which she founded at the age of 15 with the help of Al Gore and Colin Powell. For her promotion of underprivileged children and teens, she was also dubbed a “Point of Light.” Jarvis was a member of the National Youth Leadership Council’s Youth Project Team throughout high school, and while acting as a NYLC Youth Reporter at National Youth Summits, he received one of the few interviews permitted by then-Secretary of State Colin Powell.
